The Guernsey Press and Star 2008 Design-an-Ad Competition
In association with Lloyds TSB

We look forward to seeing the designs produced by students for the 2008 competition.

NOTE: you will need to be using Internet Explorer or Firefox in order to view the 2007 winners

This year we will again be allocating a limited number of advertisement briefs to each school. We hope this will help the students and this will result in them achieving a first, second and third for each sponsor an advertisement is designed for.

A slight addition in 2008 will see our judges also shortlisting the best 5 Junior and 5 Senior designs. These will be showcased in the newspaper and we will invite readers to vote (limited to one vote per household) for "The Readers' Choice" in both Junior and Senior sections. These winners will be announced along with all the other winners at the two June events.

We believe that the challenges set to your students mean that there are many positive educational benefits to be had. Local businesses also appreciate this opportunity to interact with youngsters in a practical learning experience and it's a great opportunity for our young designers to see their work published.

We are delighted to say that Lloyds TSB are again sponsors of the overall competition and will again be providing £150 each for the two schools attended by the Senior and Junior Designers of the Year.

Prizes for the winners in each category will comprise of vouchers, courtesy of Holeshot and HS2.

Please ensure that the advert briefs are studied carefully. Our judges will assess the "fit" of the finished work with the brief. Check other pages in this section for additional information.

Please note that all entries in the web banner, web page and PowerPoint categories must be supplied electronically - i.e. on CD - so as to allow us to showcase them effectively. Also all entries in all categories must come via schools.

As each school now has designated advert briefs it is important that designs for these sponsors only are created. We are grateful to these sponsors for their invaluable support and therefore ask that they each receive an appropriate number of entries. Guernsey Press staff can assist with information and are happy to arrange to visit schools to assist in a design lesson if you wish.

Entries should arrive at our Braye Road, Vale offices no later than 5.00 p.m., Friday 23 May, 2008.

The presentation of trophies will be as follows:

Juniors - Thursday 19 June 2008, 4.00 p.m., at St Pierre Park Hotel.

Seniors - Thursday 26 June, 2008, 4.00 p.m., at St Pierre Park Hotel.
