A brain injury can happen to anyone,
at any age, at any time.

One cause is a blow to the head, in a car accident, for example.
Or you could have a stroke or haemorrhage, even at a young age.
Or you could have a brain tumour removed.

To listen to Jill Marquis's experience of living with a brain injury, go to the BBC Guernsey website.

What we do

Headway Guernsey provides information, support and services to adults, and their families, who are living with the long-term effects of a brain injury, like memory loss, difficulty processing information or personality change.

We offer a programme of social events, information evenings and support groups, including a group where family members can share experiences. At 'Headway House' on Monday and Friday mornings, members take part in wide range of activities that help them to regain their confidence, learn new skills, make friends and support each other.

Volunteer with us

To find out about the latest volunteering opportunities at Headway Guernsey, go to www.volunt-here.org and search for 'Headway Guernsey'.

Help support us

To make a donation, go to www.appeal.gg and search for 'Headway Guernsey' or send a cheque payable to 'Headway Guernsey' to the address above. All funds raised remain in the Bailiwick.

Our aims are:

1) To reassure people going through this life-shattering experience that they are not on their own.

2) To raise awareness of brain injury and the effects of this hidden disability.

3) To provide advice, information and sign posting to people with a brain injury and to their support network.

4) To organise activities to enable people who have become socially isolated after a brain injury to learn new skills, make new friends and increase in confidence.

5) To campaign on behalf of the collective members and their families on issues that are important to all.

6) To establish a Headway House - a social centre where people can go to during the day to regain their confidence and old and new skills in an environment where the effects of brain injury are completely understood.
