The National Osteoporosis Society (NOS) is the only national charity dedicated to improving the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of this fragile bone disease.
The NOS offers support to people with osteoporosis, their families and carers, through a range of detailed information booklets, a national telephone Helpline staffed by osteoporosis nurse advisers on 0845 4500230 and a network of over 130 support groups across the UK.

The Guernsey NOS support group meets to share information, offer support and friendship to local people and help raise funds for osteoporosis research as well and local and national projects.
This statue entitled 'Hope for Osteoporosis', sculptor David Backhouse, stands in the grounds of Camerton and was commissioned by the late Linda Edwards, director of the charity until her untimely death in December 2002. It depicts a mother with typical osteoporotic kyphosis being comforted by a daughter.
