FIRST up, an apology.
Apocalypse NowTHE rapidly rising fuel prices and the consequences of that have been uppermost in the mind of many, not least the French fishermen.
Guernsey at ChelseaI covered the Chelsea Flower Show in London for BBC Television and Radio for more than thirty years and more recently have reported on it for the Guernsey Press, too. It’s always a matter of pride that Raymond Evison does so well – this year being no exception, his ninth gold medal with Guernsey Clematis plants and many more before that.
Two reasons against IWVAS AN ‘in principle’ fan of island-wide voting, much of what has been posted here over the last few days has rung a chord and, given the interest of at least one Policy Council member and the House Committee’s position on it, we can expect at least a report on it in future.
What’s the harm?OVER the days since the election, much has been made of the ‘right’ of individuals to sit as members/ministers/chairmen etc of various boards and departments, which seems to me to be missing the point a bit.
Economic modelLEAVING aside for a while some of the more esoteric comments here of late, I see that the political process is in full swing with the new Treasury minister releasing his blueprint for the future, something the GP gives a warm response to this morning.
A fresh startRegrettably I won’t be able to get away from the office and pay a visit to the States today. There is always a ‘first day at school’ excitement about the opening day of a new House.
Policies not personalitiesAT 12.40 this morning an email arrived confirming that today’s hustings meeting for chief minister was finally on.
Duty callsAn interview in the business pages today with entrepreneur Tom Scott set me thinking.
